In aid of the Rotary Heartworks Appeal
Why support this concert? We all know the NHS is strapped for cash and is not able to provide funds for desperately needed capital equipment. One such pieceof capital equipment which will benefi t regional hospitals throughout the South West is called Heartworks.
Heartworks is a highly sophisticated 3D training simulator. Designed as a manikin torso, two scanning probes and a computer with software that compares ultrasound scans of 43 different heart conditions, it has been developed to train doctors and other clinical staff to scan the heart and interpret the results more thoroughly and safely. This leads to better and more accurate training that can be achieved in a far shorter period of time. Patients will receive investigations more quickly and lives will be saved.
Such machines do exist in other parts of the UK but not, unfortunately, in any of the South West hospitals. The cost of these machines is £60,000 and, where they do exist, they have been purchased from charitable funds. With the help of the public at large, all of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Rotary Club of Wrington Vale Heartworks appeal.
