The time has come the walrus said to talk of many things, of ships and string and sealing wax and Bath Festival of Motoring which unlike the rest of that poem is certainly not nonsense. This superb event which celebrates the world of motoring since 1924 is returning to Walcot Rugby Ground, Lansdown Road. Bath BA1 9BJ on 20th and 21st June this year, bigger, better and sporting a new name and logo. (It was previously called the Bath Pageant of Motoring). Once again featuring motor vehicles from the old to the new, affordable to very expensive, classy to downright odd, there will be something for everyone. We expect reactions from “I remember having one of those” through “what is it?” to “ I would trade in my family for one of those” and visitors will be treated with the biggest collection of motor cars and motorcycles since a year ago many of which will take place in the drive by with the usual fact loaded, witty and interesting commentary. Supercar rides will be back. Here you can book a ride in a vehicle, of which motoring dreams are based on, for a donation to the charity. We have already been promised some spectacular vehicles for this part of the event. This year promises to have more family entertainment throughout the two days and the usual wide range of quality foods and drinks (including alcoholic) will be available in the food court. The whole event , organised by the Rotary Club of Bath with their normal aplomb, attention to detail and eye for exciting entertainment, is aimed at raising money for charities supported by Rotary and in particular for Wizzybugs, electric wheelchairs for the under 5s for which there is no NHS provision. Tickets prices are £10 for an adult, £5 for a child or as a special offer, £20 for a family of 4, two adults and two children. Tickets will be available at Bath Box Office which will guarantee entrance, or on the gate on the day. Plentiful free parking will be available on site and the site is right opposite Lansdown Park and Ride so access from the centre of Bath will be straightforward. While the organisation of the event is being undertaken by the Rotary club, many other organisations are lending support, practical, physical, financial and in some cases all three. It is this combination of club and supporters which make such an event possible.
