Rotary bring 2 brand new fun-filled events to Devizes!

The Rotary Club of Devizes is adding two exciting new events to the festival of fun planned for this summer in the town.  These are summarised below but if you’d like to find out more about them, or the other work done by the Rotary Club of Devizes to help both local and international communities, please email Cliff Evans at cliffvevans@yahoo.co.uk

SuperChoir

SuperChoirOn Thursday July 9th 2015, Devizes area schools choirs will lift the roof at Dauntsey’s School in the inaugural SuperChoir! The event is being organised by Devizes Rotary Club with help from TV / movie composer Simon May who was born in Devizes and is an ex-pupil Dauntsey’s School.

Choirs from more than ten schools in Devizes and surrounding towns and villages will come together under Simon’s baton to entertain an audience of over 500. Simon has many hits to his name including the theme tune to Eastenders, and his father was a Devizes Rotarian.

MoonRacers

MoonRacer LogoOn Sunday August 30th during the Devizes Festival weekend, the Rotary Club of Devizes invites you to take part in a modern day version of the Moonraker folk story.

Whereas the olden-day Moonrakers tried to capture a cheese from the Crammer by raking the moon’s reflection using their pitch forks, in this modern-day version you will race against the clock to capture the moon using a remote controlled amphibian MoonRacer vehicle!

Each participant will be rewarded with a piece of special MoonRacer cheese, and the fastest time of the day will win a coveted MoonRacer Hamper!
