On a wet bank holiday!

On Sunday 30th August, Yeo Vale Rotary Club took a stand at the car boot sale at Yeovil Showground following on from the very successful event in April. On this occasion it was in support of the club’s Yum Zaa project to help train a young woman in Ghana to become an accountant.

The weather did us no favours – living up to the forecast. The initial setting up took place in a light, intermittent drizzle, followed by a torrential downpour just 15 minutes after the general public arrived – effectively clearing the site until the storm had passed. For the rest of the afternoon the team were busy covering and uncovering the displayed goods with polythene sheeting as the showers swept through…finally calling it a day at 3pm.

In spite of the atrocious weather, the day proved worthwhile and raised a further £300 for Yum Zaa and her studies. Spirits were not dampened even if bodies required a major drying out.
