Thirteen year 10 students from the Kings of Wessex Academy took part in the annual “Young Chef” cooking competition organised by The Rotary Club of Mendip.
The challenge was to devise, prepare and cook a two course meal to restaurant standards in two and a half hours. All competitors were given an apron and a certificate for taking part. The winner Rose Body won a set of chef’s whites and an opportunity to work for a day in a restaurant kitchen.
The judges consisted of Rotarians and two food professionals from the sponsoring organisation The FSC Group based in Cheddar. The presentation was made at a Rotary Club meeting in front of the Club.
This is the first of nine youth events to be organised by the Rotary Club of Mendip over the coming year.
