Turkey/Syria Earthquake Appeal
The Water Survival Box charity, founded by the Rotary Club of Chelwood Bridge, is already in touch with three Turkish and Syrian in-country teams of international non-Government partners. Last week, CEO Ravi Singh and a team from Khalsa Aid International reached the disaster area in Turkey and confirmed the urgent need for the Water Survival Boxes (WSBs) that are provided across the world to areas suffering from the aftermath of disasters. The need for clean water solutions has already been established and the WSB trustees aim to provide at least one thousand of their standard WSBs in the coming weeks. Each box is designed to provide essential survival items for a family of five and includes vital tools to convert contaminated water into safe drinking water.
Packing – Brue Valley Rotary Club Voice Over – Hugo Pike OBE
A consignment of two hundred boxes left the warehouse on Westfield Industrial Estate on Wednesday, 15th February for the British Airways cargo depot, ready for a direct flight from Heathrow to Turkey on Thursday. These boxes will provide for at least one thousand survivors and help them begin to rebuild their shattered lives.
The first consignment of 200 boxes have now arrived in Turkey.

Raising Funds for The Rotary Foundation and the Hidden Needs Trust
This mammoth Fundraiser is being undertaken by Rachel Goodfellow, President of Rotary in Sherborne, to raise funds for these two charities which she cares passionately about. During the 45 days Rachel will cover 1,591.44 miles averaging 26.6 miles per day.
“I am running/walking 45 marathons in 45 days across our Rotary District 1200 from Chippenham to Bath, down to Lyme Regis, across to Bridport,
Weymouth, and Portland, and up to Frome”
The route is shown on the Hidden Needs Trust web site and progress tracked each day with the route and mileage, together with details of the fundraisers going on each day.
For insurance reasons it is not possible for others to run with Rachel, but runners/walkers are welcome to be there at the start and finish, and are welcome to join in the daily fundraising activities. Rotarians, Rotary Clubs and others are invited to organise fund raisers along the route of this mammoth challenge.
Right now Rachel is looking for sponsors.
