The Nepal Trust

Working in the Hidden Himalayas, the Nepal Trust has made a real difference over the years to the lives of many in a very remote and inaccessible part of the world. Many clubs and individuals from D1200 have helped in this effort, often with District and RI grant support.

Later this month there is opportunity to hear at first hand how past and current projects are faring and of future opportunity to participate in the work of the Nepal Trust.

Jeroen van den Berg from the Nepal Trust will be giving talks in the District at the following times and venues:

  • Monday 24/11 at 19.00 at Wells Rotary Club: The White Hart Hotel BA5 2RN
  • Wednesday 26/11 at 18.00 at Ilminster Rotary Club: The Shrubbery Hotel
     TA19 9AR
  • Thursday 27/11 at 18.30 at Langport and Somerton Rotary Club: The Langport Arms Hotel TA10 9PD

The format for all events will be a sit down meal with networking and fellowship to be followed by Jeroen’s talk.

If you are interested in hearing what he has to say please book in direct with the club secretaries.”

Weston Rotarian receives a surprise Paul Harris Fellowship

Weston Rotary Club PHF Presentation

Rotarian John Horler received a surprise Paul Harris Fellowship from President Terry Gilbert at our lunchtime meeting. John joined Weston Rotary Club 48 years ago in 1966, 22 days before England last won the World Cup! He was President 1983/4, served as Treasurer 1973 to 1980 and was a Trustee of the Boys House Children’s Fund. More recently 15 years ago he single handed set up the Club Website, an innovation at the time, and has diligently run it ever since.

“HOPE FOR TOMORROW” TODAY

132BRADFORD ON AVON Rotary Club member Dan Conley recently handed over a
cheque to Lord MacLaurin, Chairman of “Hope For Tomorrow”.
The charity funds Mobile Chemotherapy Units, which gives treatment to patients nearer their homes, so reducing travel & waiting times & the strain on
busy hospitals.

Mr.Conley stands in front of the newly commissioned North Wiltshire Chemotherapy Unit at the Great Western Hospital which is named in memory of his late wife Linda, where she was first diagnosed with breast cancer but sadly died last November.
Bradford Rotary continue to support Dan with his fund raising & together we have now raised over £80.000 towards the £150,000 cost of each unit.
