Bath Fireworks Display Poster Competition

All the WinnersChildren from 44 schools in Bath and North East Somerset have entered this year’s Fireworks Safety poster competition sponsored by Bath Building Society and supported by The Rotary Club Bath. The winners of the five categories were invited to a ceremony with The Mayor at The Guildhall on Monday and all the winning children were given a money voucher to open a Bath Building Society Account, a 51 piece art set and a Bath Building Society goody bag. The winners were chosen from over 6,000 entries.

3rd: Lewis Fussell, Threeways School
The overall winner of the competition was THOMAS FROST, age 8 from St Phillips Primary School.
The posters were judged on their Fireworks safety message and artistic merit.
Dick Jenkins, Chief Executive of Bath Building Society said: “Congratulations to all the winners, the standard of the entries this year was excellent!”
The judges for this year’s competition were: Tiffany Hardie-Evans from Bath Building Society, Councillor Martin Veal, Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council, Councillor Cherry Beath the Mayor of Bath, Dan Stride from Avon Fire & Rescue Service and Alan Keeling the President of The Rotary Club Bath.

All the children that entered the competition will be given a Free Child Voucher that can be exchanged for a ticket to the Display when purchasing an Adult ticket.
The Fireworks Display will take place on Saturday 2 November this year at The Recreation Ground and will be run by The Rotary Club and sponsored by Bath Building Society.
Tickets can be bought from all Bath Building Society branches, Bath Rugby Ticket Office, the Students’ Union at the University of Bath and the Bath Box Office Ticket Agency (Bath Tourism Office). Standard Adult admission costs £5 if bought in advance, and £6 on the gate. Children’s tickets are £3 in advance and £4 on the gate.


Chelwood Bridge Primary Schools Football

psf1Primary School Teams from Cameley, Chew Magna and Chew Stoke took part in the Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club’s Annual Football Competition held at Chew Valley School on 8th October.

Boys and Girls from Years 5 and 6 played matches and Chew Stoke were the overall winners, finishing the competition undefeated in their games. All the matches were played in an excellent spirit and all of the schools are to be congratulated on the enthusiasm and commitment of their players!

Thanks are also due to Jo Hibbert, Head of PE at Chew Valley School, for arranging the use of the all-weather pitches at the school and for organising the Sixth Form Students who expertly officiated all of the games.
